Moldovan deputy premier meets delegation of Czech parliament

Chisinau, 20 Octber /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration today hosted a parliamentary delegation from the Czech Republic led by Pavel Fischer, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Prague Legislature, the MAEIE press service has reported.

The officials discussed the prospects for strengthening cooperation between Moldova and the Czech Republic, through active parliamentary diplomacy and the takeover of Czech expertise in the European integration process, including in the context of the Czech Republic holding the EU Council presidency in the second half of 2022.

During the meeting with the Czech senators, Nicu Popescu made a synthesis on current issues in foreign policy, European integration and current developments in resolving the conflict in the Transnistrian region. A distinct topic of the meeting was the relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, including the consistent support from the Czech Republic for the European integration of our country.

"After 7 years from the entry into force, the Republic of Moldova is the largest beneficiary of the Association Agreement within the Eastern Partnership states. These benefits for citizens translate into better wages, jobs at home and the support of domestic producers by increasing exports to EU member states, including the Czech Republic, " Popescu said.

The head of the Czech delegation, Senator Pavel Fischer reiterated the message of support from the Prague authorities for the ambitious reform agenda, including through the implementation of the Republic of Moldova - European Union Association Agreement. The official said that our country will remain a priority in the field of official development assistance to the Czech Republic.

The officials also agreed to exchange experiences between local authorities of both states to increase the capacity of local governments in the Republic of Moldova to access funds provided by European partners.
