Major pandemic crisis may occur in Chisinau

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau Municipal Council convened in an extraordinary meeting today to analyze the pandemic situation in the city.

Acting head of the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Health of the city hall Boris Gâlcă presented to the municipal councilors the current pandemic situation in Chisinau. According to him, the number of daily deaths and COVID-19 diseases has increased in the municipality. "All hospitals in Chisinau are mobilized to treat COVID-19 patients. The pressure on the municipal health system is enormous, we ask for the help of the national health authorities to deal with it ", said Gâlcă.

He said that there are several challenges to the health system in the municipality. "The lack of medical staff, intensive care infrastructure and arrears from CNAS are the main challenges facing the municipal health system," said Gâlcă.

A major pandemic crisis may occur in Chisinau. "Given that the vaccination rate is low and 97 percent of patients admitted to municipal hospitals are not vaccinated, a major pandemic crisis will occur in Chisinau," he said.
