Moldovan, Austrian presidents agreed to advance cooperation between two countries

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu had a meeting yesterday with Federal President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen in Vienna, the presidential press service has reported.

Discussions with the Austrian counterpart addressed issues of common interest. The presidents of Moldova and Austria agreed to advance cooperation between the two countries in economy, environmental protection and energy, including the development of renewable energy. The Ministries of Economy and Environment are to set up a common agenda in this regard.

"Austria has been and is a reliable partner for the Republic of Moldova. We benefit from its full support in our bilateral dialogue through programs and projects in areas such as good governance, vocational education, rural development, environmental protection or adaptation to climate change. The Austrian partners also provided us with support in the dialogue with the EU institutions ", Maia Sandu said.

Maia Sandu thanked Alexander Van der Bellen for the help that Austria offered to our country last year in the fight against the pandemic, including for the donation of 100,000 doses of vaccine, which the Austrian president announced during the meeting.

After the meeting, the two presidents held a joint press conference.

Maia Sandu pays an official visit to Vienna on October 21-22, at the invitation of Austrian counterpart.
