Moldovan PM to participate in Moldova-European Union Association Council

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - The EU-Moldova Association Council will hold its sixth meeting. The event will be co-chaired by High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

The prime minister will be accompanied by Deputy PM, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu, Economics Minister Sergiu Gaibu and Justice Minister Sergiu Litvinenco.   

The following subjects will be tackled at the sixth Association Council:  

- the political dialogue and the reform, political association;

- the cooperation and convergence in the foreign affairs and security policy; 

- freedom, security and justice;

- the deep and comprehensive free trade and area; the free and comprehensive free;

- economic cooperation and sectoral cooperation;

- energy sector.

Also at the Association Council, PM Natalia Gavrilita will sign the Agreement on Association to the Orizont Europa programme, a key programme of financing for research and innovation, which approaches the climate changes, helps achieve the sustainable development goals of the UN and stimulates the competitiveness and growth.  

The visit’s agenda contains also a string of meetings with EU high-ranking representatives, including High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell Fontelles, Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, as well as Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel and Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katarina Mathernova.
