Moldova to switch to winter time on night of 30-31 October

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will switch to winter time on Saturday night, 30 October to Sunday, 31 October. Thus, on Sunday at 3.00, the hands of the clocks will be given one hour ago, and this day will be the longest of the year.

"The Government of the Republic of Moldova informs that given that the country's economy is connected to some elements of the European Single Market, through the Moldova - European Union Association Agreement, simultaneously with the member states of the European Union, on 31 October 2021, the last Sunday of October, at 3.00, on the entire territory of the country, the transition to winter time will take place, by transferring the hands of the clock back one hour ", the government decision signed by Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa reads.

Moldova has resorted to switching to winter time since 1979, in order to make best use of natural light to reduce artificial lighting.

The transition from summer to winter takes place in 70 countries with respect to the time zone difference.
