Epidemiological situation on COVID-19 in Chisinau shows signs of relaxation

Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/- In Chisinau, there is a decrease in the number of daily COVID-19 infections.

Mayor Ion Ceban said at today's online meeting of the municipal services that the pressure on the municipal hospitals involved in the treatment of coronavirus infection has decreased. "There are enough treatment beds for COVID-19 patients, there are also places in intensive care units," he said.

At the same time, he said the death toll was extremely high. "In the week of November 1-7, there was the highest number of deaths since the pandemic broke out," the source said.

Ceban also urged city residents to get vaccinated, saying municipal authorities have sufficient vaccine capacity and locations to immunize citizens. "The project of the mobile immunization centers was appreciated by the external partners of the Chisinau municipality and taken over for implementation", he said.

According to the Ministry of Health, to date, 345,964 cases of infection with the new coronavirus have been registered in the Republic of Moldova, and 324,893 patients have been cured. At the same time, Chisinau has the highest vaccination rate in the country - about 40%.
