Semantic catalogue to ensure univocal record, interpretation of data in Moldova

Chisinau, 10 November /MOLDPRES/ - A new concept on the structuring and record of the information held by state’s institutions, adjusted to the international standards, in the digitalization sector, will be implemented in Moldova till the end of this year. In this respect, the cabinet today approved the concept of the information system, Semantic catalogue – an information resource which will ensure the stocking and record of the data in a single format, accepted and recognized by all institutions holding and providing data from Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.       

The catalogue will provide updated data on the semantic assets – structured information and sets of data held by the state’s institutions, available in Moldova, with which the participants in the exchange of data operate on the inter-operability platform MConnect.    

The semantic catalogue will be a working digital instrument and for the public authorities and institutions, autonomous administrative authorities, which hold state information resources, as well as for the private law legal entities which, on behalf of the public authorities and institutions, manage or hold state information resources. These institutions will register the semantic assets held in the semantic catalogue.       

According to the concept, the catalogue will ensure the unification and standardization of the definitions and classifiers, univocal description of state structures, reuse of this data and facilitating the interaction on the interoperability platform MConnect. The implementation of the semantic catalogue will automate the management of the semantic assets and the access to them, by using the IT mechanisms, which will boost the processes specific for the exchange of data and will contribute to the optimization of data’s collection and stocking.       

Also, the cabinet approved also the regulation on the way of keeping the register which establishes clear-cut procedures and defined responsibilities in the process of management of the semantic assets. 

The concept was worked out by the Electronic Governance Agency, as possessor and holder of the information system, Semantic catalogue, in order to ensure the record of the semantic assets.
