Challenges, projects in sector discussed at National Water Conference

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/- Specialists in water supply and sewerage (ACC), representatives of central and local public authorities, regional development agencies and enterprises in the sector, development partners met yesterday at the National Water Conference entitled -Water services quality and sustainable for all.
The conference focused on current situation, challenges and achievements in the WSS sector in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the experience of development partners in regionalization of services and inter-community cooperation. At the same time, future plans and projects in the field were addressed, which refer to the modernization of water and sanitation suppliers, construction, rehabilitation and expansion of water supply networks, construction of sewerage networks, wastewater pumping stations, points connection to the sewerage system, construction of wastewater treatment plants etc.
According to Ana Mardare, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR), the event is a good opportunity to promote and share knowledge about the many practices to be undertaken at the country level, but also an opportunity to strengthen relations between stakeholders for achieving a common goal - developing and modernizing the living conditions of citizens.
Referring to the progress made in the field, the official specified that MIDR assumes with maximum responsibility the implementation of interventions designed to contribute to increasing the rate of access of the population to the public water supply and sewerage network.
"At the ministry, we are in a broad process of developing and consolidating the framework for implementing regional development policies, as evidence we have already approved amendments to the Law on Regional Development, as well as updating programming documents, which involve increasing competitiveness and development economic development of the regions, the development of the regional infrastructure and which, as a priority, aims at the development of the water and sanitation infrastructure, but also the rehabilitation of the local infrastructure ", Ana Mardare said.
