IBBY diplomas for 2020 year awarded in Moldova

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Honorary Diplomas of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) for 2020 were awarded at the Ion Creanga National Library for Children today.
Thus, the head of the IBBY National Section in Moldova, Eugenia Bejan, handed the diplomas to writer Ion Anton, painter Lica Sainciuc and translator Ivan Pilchin. Also, the publishing houses Silvius Libris, Prut and Cartier, which edited the laureates’ books, were awarded the IBBY 2020 Honorary Diploma as well.
At the event, broadcast live on the Facebook page of the Ion Creanga Library, a discussion was held with the laureates of the IBBY Honorary Diploma 2020 about the current book for children, the today children readers and their reading preferences, parents’ role in cultivating children’s interest in reading.
The laureates of the IBBY 2020 Honorary Diplomas were announced at the IBBY World Congress held in Moscow on 10-12 September 2021.
According to Eugenia Bejan, the IBBY Honorary Diploma is awarded for the best books for children, edited in the IBBY member countries. All these books are included into an IBBY Honorary List, compiled every two years beginning with 1956.
