PM holds dialogue with Moldovans settled in United Kingdom

Chisinau, 16 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia, during a visit to the United Kingdom, has met representatives of the Diaspora in this country. Gavrilita referred to the actions undertaken by the cabinet in those 100 days since the swearing in office, including to the ones meant to encourage the citizens who left abroad to return home and get involved in the carrying out of reforms, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

The PM touched upon the social protection measures approved by the government – increase in the nominal pension up to 2,000 lei for the full amount of retirement contributions, increase in allowances for disability and other social benefits dealing with the minimum pension.    

According to the PM, another priority of the government was the initiation of mechanisms of encouraging investments and businesses, ensuring the digitalization of services and extending the spectrum of consular acts which can be got online. A new portal of services was created, www.servicii.gov.md, certain public services were digitalized and the prices were cut for a spectrum of services. At the same time, the digitalization law was approved, - a document allowing the distance managing of a business, with the European Union’s electronic signatures accepted.     

„At the same time, we started the justice reform, promoted the legislation on the evaluation of the prosecutor general. A draft concept implying the external evaluation of judges and prosecutors is under public discussion at present. We want to make sure that those who are responsible for the big corruption schemes will be sent to court. I discussed with the authorities of the United Kingdom including about this,’’ the prime minister noted.     

Referring to the management of the pandemic crisis, Natalia Gavrilita said that the biggest challenge is the people’s reticence to vaccination, amid a massive increase in misinforming and manipulation. ‘’We have made progress in ensuring a high rate of vaccination in more professions, for instance, in the case of physicians, teachers, policemen. We have organized campaigns from door to door in more settlements, where the immunization rate was the lowest one. Each life matters and we will have to make efforts, in order to improve the vaccination rate, as this is eventually the only chance to stop other waves of the disease.’’   

Natalia Gavrilita also said that one of the cabinet’s priorities was to improve the living standards for all citizens. Thus, besides the big infrastructure projects, the energy efficiency and electric interconnection, the government is set to provide investments in local projects, which would improve the living standards in villages and small towns.  

The participants in the event welcomed the measures undertaken by the Moldovan cabinet and voiced confidence that the changes announced in the government’s action’s programmne would be fulfilled quickly and efficiently, in the interest of the citizens from Moldova, as well as of those who live abroad. At the same time, the participants asked the government to ensure as many as possible measures of protecting the Moldovans who live abroad and ensure the recognition of the driver’s licences got in Moldova in the United Kingdom.   

Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita paid a visit to the United Kingdom on the occasion of the holding of the Capital Market Day in Moldova, at the headquarters of the London-based Stock Exchange.
