Joint Control Commission holds meeting in Bender

18:31 | 18.11.2021 Category: Official

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Joint Control Commission (JCC) members managed to hold a new ordinary meeting today, after a break of several weeks, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

At the meeting, the sides confirmed Yevgeny Vereshchaga as JCC co-head on behalf of Russia. He held this position during 2014-2017.

The team of experts with permanent status of Moldova’s delegation was strengthened through the inclusion of Iurii Podarilov, the head of the General Police Inspectorate.

After the settlement of the organizational aspects, the delegations heard the weekly reports of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone. Seven such reports were approved for the previous periods in all.

Moldova’s Delegation submitted to the Commission a note, thereby turning down the false rhetoric earlier spread in media by Tiraspol representatives on mobile teams of Moldova’s Customs Service.

Following a control of the real situation, Moldova’s delegation says for sure that the mobile teams of the Customs Service strictly observe the regime of the Security Zone and made no detaining of people or consignments of goods in the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, including in the Copanca and Cremenciug settlements.

At the same time, the Chisinau delegation re-brought to the JCC’s attention the abusive presence of the post of ‘’border guards’’ on the direction Cremenciug-Slobozia, fixed more times in the monitoring reports of the OSCE Mission in Moldova.

In the context, Moldova’s delegation asked for the support of the representatives of Russia, Ukraine and OSCE Mission in the Commission, in order to prompt Tiraspol to remove this illegal post, so as reestablish the freedom of movement on this segment of the Security Zone.

Also at the today’s meeting, Moldova’s delegation revealed another sample of crass manipulation of the public opinion by Tiraspol, this time dealing with the authorized flights over the Security Zone. Thus, evidence was brought that the Joint Military Command had been informed, under regulation, by several days before about the fact that a group of pilots amateurs had made training flights in the area of the settlements Vadul lui Voda and Molovata with flight apparatus of small size, which have nothing in common with the power wielding forces. Also, the Joint Military Command was informed, under regulation, about the crossing of Moldova’s territory by a helicopter, approved by relevant international organizations and MoldATSA.

Moldova’s delegation believes that the distortion of data and the erroneous setting forth of the situation, often practiced by Tiraspol representatives, is to the detriment of the goal of strengthening the trust and triggers worsening of the relations in the Joint Control Commission.
