Well-known Moldovan light music singer has more concerts in Romania, Russia, Ukraine

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - A light music singer, People’s Artist, holder of the Order of the Republic Ion Suruceanu has lately had more concerts in Romania, Russia and Ukraine, as well as in Moldova.   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Ion Suruceanu said that, in the last years, he had performed at the Martisor International Music Festival, more in Romania.  

The singer has recently returned from Moscow, where he had three concerts for the Moldovan Diaspora.

Also this year in last September, Ion Suruceanu gave a concert in the Ukrainian city of Khmelnytskyi.

Ion Suruceanu was born in the Suruceni village, central Ialoveni district, on 9 September 1949. In 1964-67, Suruceanu studied the piano and fagotto at the Chisinau-based Stefan Neaga Music College. Ion Suruceanu started his professional career as soloist of the Noroc (Luck) vocal and instrumental band, led by Mihai Dolgan, in 1968, where he worked till 1970. He was singer at the Bucuria (Joy) light music band (1970-1973), the bands Contemporanul (1974) and real (1990-93) and cooperated with the symphony music orchestra and light music orchestra of the Moldovan TV and Radio (1974).       

For his merits, Ion Suruceanu was awarded the honorific titles Merited Artist of Moldova (1985) and People’s Artist of Moldova (1990). In 1993, he was awarded the Civic Merit medal and in 2004 - the Order of the Republic. Presently, the lyceum from his native village bears his name. Ion Suruceanu dedicated 54 years of his life to the stage.
