Trucks' weigh in motion systems might be set on roads of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - Representatives of the State Administration of Roads (ASD) and the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry have recently made a working visit to the Czech Republic , within the programme, Exchange of experience, development of capacities and implementation of studies for weigh in motion (WIM) systems.
Roadmen had a meeting with representatives of Czech Industry and Trade Ministry, Smartplan company, which presented the study, Assessing the feasibility, applying the weigh in motion systems in Moldova.
The delegation visited the Czech company Cross Zlin, where the process of monitoring the weigh in motion system, the one of assembling devices, as well as the inspection of the stations in four locations was presented. The duties of the weigh in motion system include the measuring of the vehicle’s dimension, detection of double or multiple wheels, extended classification of vehicles and measurement of their speed, posting personalized information with variable messages, time of travel and directional study, collection of taxes, depending on the real weight of the vehicle, etc.
„To successfully implement the WIM system in Moldova, the selection of five settlements fit for setting balances is recommended. Subsequently, at these locations, studies and measurements will be carried out, in order to choose the best place for setting stations, taking into account the advantages and disadvantages of each placement. The most fit locations are the recently rehabilitated roads, in order to ensure the protection of the most valuable investments,’’ ASD said.
The visit to the Czech Republic was held in the context of implementation by ASD of the project of the platform of intelligent traffic technologies INVIPO, with the system’s extension through adding the component of weighing in motion of the high-tonnage motor transport.
