New EU energy labels to be applied in Moldova from 2022

Chisinau, Nov. 25 / MOLDPRES /- From 2022, in the energy label classification system, a simpler method will be used, from A to G, instead of the classification from A +++ to D, according to a government decision, approved at yesterday's meeting. This new system, according to European standards, applies to the following product groups: refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, televisions, light bulbs and lamps.

The information on the energy labels classifies household appliances on a scale from A to G, depending on the amount of energy consumed. This helps consumers save money by choosing products that consume less energy. For example, Class A appliances (green) have the lowest energy consumption, being energy efficient, and Class G appliances (red) have the highest energy consumption.

Importers and distributors of such household appliances will be entitled to place on the market products with new format energy labels, thus avoiding the sanction by the Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance for their non-compliance with the requirements of national regulations.

The Agency for Energy Efficiency, an administrative authority subordinated to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, is to organize information campaigns on new energy labeling requirements for both consumers and distributors and suppliers of energy impact products, who will be encouraged to apply new format labels.
