Chisinau, Nov. 25 / MOLDPRES /- Women with economic activity in households from different regions of the country will benefit from non-reimbursable financial aid of up to $ 3,500 for income-generating activities, environmentally friendly and resilient to climate change. Project proposals for funding can be submitted by 8 December.

The grants will be awarded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) project Communities resistant to climate change through women's empowerment, funded by Sweden. The competition is open to women from rural or urban areas who represent a household in Nisporeni, Călărași, Basarabeasca, Leova, Gagauzia, security zone and Transnistrian region.

Activities eligible for funding include greenhouse construction, drip irrigation, rainwater collection, organic waste management, composting, beekeeping, seed and agricultural storage, animal husbandry, and other activities that can contribute to food security in extreme weather conditions.

In total, 60 women will be selected to initiate an economic activity within the household, who will also benefit from mentoring for business development. The financial contribution from grant applicants is encouraged, but is not a mandatory condition. Co-financing is to be ensured through works related to the implementation of the grant.

On 30 November - 1 December, UNDP project and AXA Management Consulting experts, in partnership with CONTACT Center and INNOVATION Agency, which are responsible for managing the grant competition will hold online information sessions on conditions and conduct of the competition.

The project contributes to the sustainable development and increased resilience to climate change of localities in Nisporeni, Calarasi, Basarabeasca, Leova, Gagauzia, security zone (Dubasari district) and the Transnistrian region, through the economic, social and educational ability of women. The project is being implemented by UNDP in 2020 -2023, with financial assistance of Sweden.
