Moldovan parliament speaker meets head of European Parliament's Delegation to Moldova-EU Association Committee

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ - A working visit to Brussels by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu started with a meeting with the head of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the Moldova-European Union Parliamentary Association Committee, Vice Chair of the Group of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament Siegfried Muresan. At the meeting, Igor Grosu expressed wish to boost the inter-parliamentary relations between Moldova and EU.  

According to the parliament’s communication and public relations general department, the officials discussed the parliamentary agenda and the current Moldovan parliament’s achievements in the first 100 days of mandate. The speaker reiterated that, among the basic priorities, there were: justice reformation and fighting corruption; promotion of human rights, implementation of the social package and creation of a business friendly environment; Transnistrian conflict settlement.   

Also, Igor Grosu referred to the essential projects in infrastructure, energy sector, the roaming prices’ liberalization and overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.  

”We highly appreciate the assistance provided in the context of the overcoming of the effects, including through the approval of the plan on economic recovery worth 600 million euros, already under implementation. Moldova is grateful for the delivery of 1 million doses of vaccines and for the providing of a non-refundable assistance worth 60 million euros, in order to help us overcome the energy crisis,’’ the parliament speaker stressed.   

In the context, the sides tackled also new fields of cooperation with EU, which are meant to complete the Association Agreement: digitalization, environment and fighting the fake news. ‘’The European Union has always been a reliable partner of Moldova in the process of reformation and modernization of the country,’’ Igor Grosu added.
