Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today participated in a ceremony of awarding diplomas to the sportspeople and coaches who represented Moldova at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, held last summer. At the competition, the Moldovan sportspeople managed to achieve outstanding performances – one bronze medal and 12 leading places, the presidential press service has reported.

The head of state appreciated their courage and dedication proved. ‘’They represent an example and a source of inspiration for the young generation, as well as ambassadors of Moldova all over the world,’’ Maia Sandu said at the ceremony on the handing of diplomas.

According to the Moldovan president, the physical activity and sport are catalysts of the social change; yet, the country has limited resources and this obliges the leadership to allocate the resources we have with care. ‘’We must invest in sport, edify a society which values and practices sport not in words, but through concrete actions. We want to create conditions for the development of the future champions among young people from our country. We can do this together,’’ the head of state added.
