Families with monthly income of up to 3,100 lei to get aid for cold period of year

Chisinau, 3 Dec. / MOLDPRES /- Another 86,000 disadvantaged families will get aid for the cold period of the year in November 2021 - March 2022. The government today approved a draft decision to increase the social protection of families, in the context of increasing tariffs on electricity, gas, wood and coal, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

If until now the aid for the cold period of the year is granted to low-income families, the income transfer threshold for granting the right being calculated starting from 2,631 lei, now it will be calculated starting from 3,109 lei. The project envisages increasing the multiplier used to establish entitlement to aid for the cold period of the year from the current 2.2 to 2.6.

It should be noted that the income threshold for assessing entitlement to aid for the cold period of the year will be set for each case, depending on the number of family members, the number of adults, children. Consideration will also be given to whether any of the family members have a degree of disability.

At the same time, the applications for social assistance, submitted from November 1, 2021, will be automatically reviewed, given that the changes will be applied also for November 2021.

Over 300 million lei are provided for the implementation of the project in the state budget. In November 2020 - March 2021, the average number of disadvantaged families who received aid for the cold period of the year was 212 thousand.

The amount of aid for the cold period of the year in November 2021 - March 2022 is 700 lei per month.
