Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu encourages the citizens to be vaccinated against Covid-19. In a video message, the head of state said that any citizen of Moldova today can have the vaccine for free and that the vaccination would help us return to the normal life, to work, to the dear people, the presidential press service has reported.

„The most difficult day from this year was the day when I handed the Order of Honour to the relatives of those 134 physicians, medical assistants, ambulance drivers, doctor’s assistants and nurses, who died of Covid in the first line in the first year. It was tough, impossibly difficult to look into the eyes of the children who remained without mother, of wives who remained without husbands, of the parents who lost their children who departed too early. I though at that time that, if we had vaccine, I would have handed this order not posthumously, but to living people, who heroically fought to save other lives. Hundreds and thousands of lives...,’’ Maia Sandu said.

In the same message, President Maia Sandu reminds about several people who, most likely, would have remained alive, if Moldova had vaccine - ‘’writer Nicolae Dabija and diplomat Valeriu Turea, folklorist Tudor Colac and journalist Antonina Sarbu, the golden voice Alexei Revenco and the silver pen Efim Josanu – people who had so much creative potential and so many projects to finish.’’

„Each time when I hear sirens roaring in the city, my heart is breaking. And I send a good though to all those from the ambulance – the sick person, as well as to physicians. It hurts me a lot to see physicians fighting hardly for the life of a child, whose mother simply found no time to be vaccinated. It hurts me to see young people intubated – young people, who, although they have access to any information, they chose to get at the intensive therapy,’’ the president also said, urging the people not to reject the chance to remain alive.”

In the context, the head of state said that we have by our side the strongest ally, the science, as well as diverse vaccines, for everybody. Also, President Maia Sandu says that, just as hundreds of thousands of citizens, she vaccinated and she will get vaccinated once more, if needed: ‘’I am sure that, by protecting ourselves individually, we also protect ourselves at the level of community. Only in this way, united, shoulder to shoulder, we will manage to win the plague.’’
