Balti high school to be energy efficient with EU support

Chisinau, Dec. 8 / MOLDPRES /- Works to increase energy efficiency, carried out within a project financed by the European Union are underway at Dimitrie Cantemir high school in Balti.

According to the North Regional Development Agency (ADR), interior and exterior wall renovation works are currently taking place at the high school. Also, the remaining old windows will be replaced and the reconstruction of the roof will be completed. Previously, the educational and water supply networks, as well as the heating and ventilation system were installed at the educational institution.

ADR Nord specialists checked the progress of the construction and assembly works yesterday. "The works started in January this year, and so far, about 30% of the project budget has been used," says ADR Nord.

Following the implementation of the project, the annual standardized energy consumption in the educational institution will be reduced, according to estimates, by 547 MWh, and the annual standardized CO2 emissions - by 125 tons. As a result of the energy efficiency measures, about 900 students and 80 teachers and support staff will benefit from improved educational conditions and a comfortable study environment.

The total cost of the construction-assembly works within this project amounts to 19.70 million lei, of which 19.57 million lei represent the financing of the European Union, through ADR Nord, and 132.680 lei - co-financed by the Balti City Hall.

The project Increasing the energy efficiency of the Theoretical High School Dimitrie Cantemir in Balti is funded by the European Union and implemented by ADR Nord and the project Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova (MSPL).
