Notion of ''bullying'' to be introduced in law in Moldova

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - The notion of ‘’bullying’’ will be regulated in the Education Code. The parliament approved a draft law to this effect in the first reading today.

Under the document, the bullying phenomenon will be regulated and recognized as a form of psychological violence, the result of which is the creation of a situation of intimidation.

At the same time, the draft stipulates that, after the legislative amendment enters into force, the competent authorities will work out methodological norms for enforcing the law and will propose practices of preventing and combating this phenomenon.

Statistics shows that 86.8 per cent of the pupils of the 6-12 forms from Moldova are hit by bullying.

Bullying is regarded as a form of physical and psychological violence, deliberate behavior aimed at causing damages (hurt, destruction, damages) to people.
