Moldovan singer would have turned 70 today

Chisinau, Dec. 14 / MOLDPRES /- Light music singer Iurie Sadovnic, People's Artist, holder of the Order of the Republic, winner of the National Award, would have turned 70 today.

On this occasion, on December 11-12, the Chisinau Folk Festival took place at the Ginta Latina Culture and Art Center, an edition dedicated to the late singer.

Singer Zinaida Julea mentioned that the artist was a creator of beauty.

For his special merits in the development of musical art, in his creative activity and contribution to the process of national rebirth, Iurie Sadovnic was awarded the honorary titles Artist Emeritus (1984) and People's Artist (2011), the medals Civic Merit (1993) and Mihai Eminescu (2000), and Order of the Republic (2015). In 2017 he became a winner of the National Award. He is an honorary citizen of Susleni village.

Iurie Sadovnic passed away on June 7, 2021, at the age of 69, and was buried with military honors at the Central Orthodox Cemetery on Armenească Street in the capital.
