Moldovan president discusses energy security, local development in Brussels

Chisinau, 14 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had several working meetings, on the first day of her visit to Brussels, the presidential press service has reported.    

The head of state and Director General, Permanent Representative of the Office of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Brussels, Mikołaj Dowgielewicz, discussed the projects carried out by EIB in Moldova and the future cooperation in  strategic sectors. It is about the rehabilitation of the power transport networks, restructuring of the railways, interconnection of the electric energy systems with Romania, energy optimization of the public and residential buildings, as well as the financing of small- and medium-sized enterprises.  

Also, Maia Sandu discussed online with Governor of the Central Macedonia region of Greece, President of the European Committee of the Regions Apostolos Tzitzikostas. The officials referred to the importance of local development projects, which provide more opportunities to rural communities from Moldova.  

President Maia Sandu is on a visit to Brussels on 14-15 December, where she will participate in the sixth Summit of the Eastern Partnership.
