Moldovan-Polish economic cooperation discussed in Chisinau

Chisinau, Dec. 22 / MOLDPRES /- Economy Minister Sergiu Gaibu met with Adam Eberhardt, plenipotentiary representative of the Polish Prime Minister for support for reforms in Moldova.

Officials discussed bilateral economic cooperation, as well as the $ 100 million assistance loan to be provided to our country for economic development projects. Other issues addressed were the resumption of the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Affairs, which will examine bilateral trade relations and opportunities for deepening trade.

To date, 37 agreements have been signed between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Poland, which regulate various fields of activity.

In our country operate 92 enterprises with Polish capital, investments amounting to 227.297 million lei. According to the volume of invested capital, Poland is on the 15th place among the main investors of the Republic of Moldova. The largest Polish investor is Polski Cukier (the sugar industry).

Polish financial support is provided through the Development Assistance Program. The Republic of Moldova is declared a priority country for Polish development assistance in sectors such as good governance, regional and rural development and agriculture. Over 15 years, Poland has implemented 264 million euros worth of projects in Moldova.
