Chisinau, 22 December /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a today’s meeting, approved a draft law on the establishment of the National Fund for Regional and Local Development. Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu provided details on this draft at a news conference held after the cabinet meeting.

According to the official, the new structure will work based on the National Fund for Regional Development, with the taking over of the projects on regional and local development.

„The principal goal of the draft law is to create single sources of financing for the following investment projects: for water and sewerage, which are presently financed from the national ecological fund; for projects in the energy sector, financed from sources of the Fund for Energy Efficiency; for other investment projects in the rural development sector, especially projects on the supply with water and sewerage and local infrastructure, which are financed from sources of the national fund for the development of agriculture and rural environment,’’ the deputy PM noted.

Also, Spinu referred to a draft law for the amendment of normative acts, which will regulate the way of financing regional and local investment projects. ‘’Decision-makers will ensure a more rigorous monitoring of the financial means of the National Fund for Regional Development, so as not to allow the overlapping of the financing of investment projects from more sources on the same project,’’ the infrastructure minister said.

Andrei Spinu urged all mayors and specialists in attracting investments from the local public administrations to compile good and useful projects, due to contribute to communities’ development and modernization.
