Sports Gala 2021 held in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 24 December /MOLDPRES/ - The best sportspeople of this year today received diplomas on behalf of the Education and Research Ministry at the Sports Gala 2021.   

Most Moldovan sportspeople who achieved meritorious results at international competitions received diplomas at the 2021 Sports Gala. Attending the ceremony, Education and Research Minister Anatolie Topala said that, this year, Moldovan sportspeople had won 75 medals at Olympic competitions and 160 medals at non-Olympic ones. ‘’Sport disciplines and forms characters; the example of Moldovan sportspeople shapes the young generation. The 160 million lei provided from the budget to sport will be used including for the development of the present sports infrastructure. In 2022, the central sports authority will present the medium-term  strategy of the Moldovan sport, in order to make possible the brining of more prizes to the country,’’ Topala noted.  

The best Moldovan Olympic sportsmen of the 2021 year are: Victor Ciobanu (Greco-Roman wrestling), Iulia Leorda (women’s wrestling), Marin Robu (weight-lifting), Oleg Ternovschi (kayak-canoe), Elena Câlcic (weight-lifting), Maria Olărașu - Daniela Cociu (double kayak-canoe), Maxim Saculțan (free-style wrestling), Anastasia Nechita (women’s wrestling), Denis Vieru (judo), Adrian Mardare (athleticism).

The best three sports federations of Moldova were nominated the Kayak-Canoe Federation, and the Weight-Lifting Federation. The sportspeople representing these federations got the most medals at international competitions.

The best sports journalists of the 2021 year are Mihai Sandu (Moldova 1 TV station), Vadim Caftanat (sports photographer) and Gheorghe Lungu.
