Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) has approved the contract for the depositing, for a three-year period, of household waste from the capital at the waste storage site from the Tantareni village, eastern Anenii Noi district.

At a today’s meeting, the municipal councilors voted a decision on the contract for depositing the household waste from Chisinau at the Tantareni waste storage site. The vote comes after more controversial discussions on the need to include this item on the agenda, held in the morning.

The councilors were persuaded to vote, after they had been explained that an agreement on depositing, for a three-year term, was signed by the Autosalubritate (Self-Sanitation) Municipal Enterprise, Tantareni local council and the Chisinau city hall.

According to the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, the city hall takes the  commitment to provide municipal bonds worth 75 million lei, which the Tantareni local council will use to attract investors. ‘’The positive part of this agreement deals with the fact that Chisinau ensures the depositing of household waste for a three-year term,’’ Ceban said.

About 4,500-5,000 cubic metres of waste, which is about 650-700 tons of waste, is daily collected in the Chisinau city and carried/deposited to the solid waste storage site from the Tantareni village. The Autosalubritate enterprise annually collects about 1,755, 000 – 1,800, 000 cubic metres of municipal solid waste.

About 23 million cubic metres of household waste have been inhumed at the aforementioned waste storage site so far, which represents about a half of the capacity of storing planned.
