Moldovan folk music singer informs about achievements of 2021 year

Chisinau, 30 December /MOLDPRES/ - The 2021 year was a complicated year, triggered by the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, for a well-known folk music singer, Maria Iliut, People’s Artist, called nightingale of Bucovina, head of the Crenguța de iederă ethno-folklore band from the Moldovan State University (USM). At the same time, this was a year when she enjoyed health and more performances in concerts.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, Maria Iliut said that, this year, she had sung with the aforementioned band in all regions of Moldova, as well as in Cluj, Romania, Chernivtsi, Ukraine, and in other settlements.
Also on this period, Maria Iliut recorded a CD of folklore music, which comprises 20 songs sung by her and her band.
Maria Iliut was born in the Crasna village, Storojinet district, Chernivtsi region of Ukraine, on 23 February 1955. In 1978-1984, she studied at the Chisinau-based Gavriil Musicescu Arts Institute. As of 1983, Iliut was soloist of the ethno-folkloric band Talancuta, the bands Stefan Voda and Busuioc moldovenesc. She led the folkloric studio of the Children’s Creation Palace from Chisinau. Presently, Iliut is superior lecturer at the USM Fine Arts Faculty, where she leads the Crenguța de iederă ethno-folkloric band, which she created and which holds the title of model band from Moldova.
Maria Iliut made more tours to Cyprus, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Turkey and other countries. She was awarded the Diploma of Excellence of the General Consulate of Romania from Chernivtsi, with the prize Golden Heart for the promotion of the authentic folklore (2007) and other important prizes. She is member of the Moldovan Musicians’ Union and the Bucharest-Chisinau Cultural Society. In 2010, Maria Iliut was awarded the honorific title of People’s Artist.
