Chisinau, January 3 / MOLDPRES /- The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) announced today that the increase in oil prices in the new year is largely due to the fact that, as of January 1, 2022, the excise duty rates provided by the Fiscal Code have been increased.

In this context, ANRE mentions that by Law No257 of December 16, 2020, the quotas of excise duties were gradually increased for a period of 3 years, respectively for the period 2021-2023, for most goods subject to this type of taxation. As a result, from January 1, the excise duty for a ton of imported gasoline increased by 586 lei and for a ton of diesel by 237 lei, which is consequently reflected in the final price at the pump in the amount of plus 54 bani / liter at COR 95 petrol and 25 bani / liter for diesel.

“This fact, cumulated with the latest trends in increasing prices on international stock exchanges, generated for tomorrow, January 4, the following maximum retail prices of main petroleum products of the standard type: for gasoline 95 - 21.30 lei / liter , for diesel - 17.73 lei / liter ", the communiqué issued by the institution reads.

ANRE emphasizes that the price increase, based on the increase of the excise quota, has a unique character, being applied on the first day of calculation of the new year. Furthermore, the daily evolution of prices for the main petroleum products of the standard type will be influenced exclusively by the level of quotations on international stock exchanges and the exchange rates of the national currency against the US dollar.
