Chisinau, January 6 / MOLDPRES /- A total of 40 National Army soldiers will travel to Kosovo to take part in the international KFOR peacekeeping mission. This is the 16th Moldovan contingent to join KFOR.

The Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi, was also present at the military detachment ceremony, which took place today. The official mentioned that during the previous 15 missions, the Moldovan military managed to demonstrate professionalism and dedication, and the Republic of Moldova became a reliable partner that contributes to maintaining stability in the region. "Today we are deploying the 16th contingent and in time we managed to confirm once again the training of the Moldovan military. We have become reliable partners of other states and contribute to the stability and peace of the region. The previous 15 contingents performed all missions with dedication and professionalism. I am confident that the new staff will be just as responsible and vigilant. Dear military, in just a few days you will replace your colleagues in Kosovo. I know that you have a good training, you work honorably and you prove that Moldova is a reliable partner in the international efforts to maintain peace ", said the minister.

Since 2014, almost 600 Moldovan soldiers have participated in the mission in the international peacekeeping operation in Kosovo.

Currently, the International Peacekeeping Mission KFOR, led by the North Atlantic Alliance, in accordance with the UN Resolution, has 41 professional soldiers of the National Army. They will return home in mid-January.
