Head of Theatre Union of Moldova says quality plays staged in 2021

Chisinau, 6 January /MOLDPRES/ - The 2021 year was a year of quality plays for all theatres of Moldova for the head of the Moldovan Theatre Union (UNITEM), People’s Artist Alexandru Grecu.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Alexandru Grecu said that about 50 plays had been staged in theatres from Moldova in 2021. ‘’At the 20th edition of the UNITEM Gala, the pre-selection jury watched over 40 plays. The final jury awarded more prizes. I am happy that new names appeared in the theatre movement of Moldova in the last year: actors, stage managers, scene painters, etc. I want to highlight, in particular, the stage manager Slava Sambris, who staged plays in five theatres during 2021,’’ the UNITEM head stressed.     

Stage manager, actor, script writer and theatre professor, laureate of the National Prize, founder and artistic director of the Satiricus I.L. Caragiale National Theatre, holder of the Order of the Republic    Alexandru Grecu was born in the Colibasi village, southern Cahul district, on 14 February 1960. He graduated from the Gavriil Musicescu Arts institute from Chisinau in 1983. In 1987-1990, he worked as probationer in stage management at the Satirikon Theatre from Moscow, having Konstantin Raikin as leader. In 1983-87, Grecu worked as actor at the Alexei Mateevici Theatre from Chisinau. In 1990, he founded the Satiricus Theatre (as of 2003, Satiricus I.L. Caragiale National Theatre).      

During years, Alexandru Grecu staged and made over 60 plays. He made tours to Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Iraq, Italy, Romania, USA, Sweden, Hungary and other countries.
