Chisinau, 12 January /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved minimal requirements for improving the protection of health and security at the working place of the employees exposed to a potential risk in explosive environments, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Under the draft, employers will be obliged to hold a document or a set of acts on the observance of the requirements as regards the protection against explosions, which includes: ways of identifying the dangers; assessing the risks; defining the specific measures which are to be taken, in order to protect the health and security of the employees exposed to risk.

The document approved by the government proposes more ways of removing risks, including: replacing inflammable substances or limiting the concentration; avoiding sources which trigger the deflagration of explosive environments and namely the dividing of zones with potential risk of explosion, identifying the types of sources of fire, etc.

At the same time, the implementation of the concerned draft is aimed at disciplining the employer through obliging to tighten the security of the working places, so that they meet the international standards and requirements.

The decision is meant to ensure the adjusting of the national legislation to the EU provisions in the field of security and health at the working place, through the transposition of the Directive 1999/92/CE of the European Parliament and European Council from 16 December 1999, according to the obligations taken through the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. At the same time, its goal is to implement the provisions of the law on labour security and health.
