Foreign affairs minister tells to national diplomatic corps to make Moldova's voice heard

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu had hosted a meeting in videoconference format with the heads of diplomatic missions from abroad, during which he summed up the results of the 2021 year and set new goals for 2022. This year, the action of Moldova’s diplomacy will be guided by the 4D concept: European Development, Dialogue, Diaspora and Economic Diplomacy, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.   

„We want, in continuation, to promotion a predictable and consistent foreign policy, oriented towards citizens and the agenda of reforms demanded by them. I invited the colleagues from embassies and consulates to make Moldova’s voice heard, so as we edify the reputation of a reliable partner and cultivate long-term strategic partnerships,’’ Nicu Popescu said at the event.    

This year, the Moldovan diplomacy head set as objective the boosting of the economic diplomacy through the promotion of products made in Moldova, increasing the number of tourists and attracting investments through meetings, direct contacts, cultivating relations and referring of potential investors to partners from our country. Among the priorities, there is also the optimization of the mechanism of considering such requests in Chisinau.   

The official also touched upon Moldova’s priorities for the Diaspora, which regards the fostering of the process of modernization and digitalization of the consular services, in order to enhance their quality and be closer to people’s needs. 

„We invited our diplomats to explain also the benefits of the activities on which we work and which we promote in the interest of the Diaspora: agreements on social protection; conversion of driver’s licences; diminution of the roaming costs; systematic support of the associations from the Diaspora and organization of events under embassies’ patronage. We asked our ambassadors, consuls and other diplomats to be more accessible and use each occasion to ensure an open communication with the Moldovans living abroad, including against the background of the pandemic, by using digital instruments,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu added.
