Chisinau power station to be modernized

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau power station of 330 KV will be modernized. A contract to this effect today was signed between the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE) and the association of companies Siemens Energy Ltd – Electromontaj stock company – Energotech stock company, nominated winner of the international tender.        

According to data by the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR), the association of companies will be in charge of the designing, providing and setting of the equipment needed for the modernization of the power station. The contract’s value is of 11,883,842.98 euros, the period of implementation is 32 months starting the date of the contract’s entrance into force.    

The project backs the general programme established by Moldova’s government, through the asynchronous interconnection of Moldova’s electro-energy system to the single European electric energy market, through the European Network of Transmission System Operators, thus enhancing the security of supply with electric energy and creating opportunities for the development of competitive energy market both nationally and regionally.      

According to the quoted source, due to the modernization of the 330 KV Chisinau power station and with the construction of a new overhead power line, consumers will benefit from a reliable access to electric energy at competitive tariffs.   

The works of modernization of the 330 KV Chisinau power station along with the works of building of the 400 KV overhead power line Vulcanesti-Chisinau are carried out within the Project on Development of the Electric Energy System, financed by the World Bank.
