11:02 | 20.01.2022 Category: Social

Chisinau, January 20 / MOLDPRES /- After two days of Japanese strike, starting today and until January 24, the lawyers announced they are going on a general strike, with the total cessation of activity. The action comes in protest against the amendment to the law on advocacy.

The decision to go on general strike was taken at a special meeting of the Bar Council. Thus, the lawyers will request the postponement of all the court hearings and will not participate in the criminal prosecution actions.

Also during the extraordinary hearing, the lawyers came up with a proposal on the wording of the amendment to the law on the legal profession.

Earlier, the Moldovan Bar Association asked the Parliament to withdraw the amendment to the Law on Advocacy, which stipulates that the prior consent of the Bar Council will no longer be required for the detention, arrest or search of a lawyer.
