COVID drug Molnupiravir authorized by AMDM

Chisinau, January 20 / MOLDPRES /- The Medicines Commission has approved the drug Molnupiravir indicated for the treatment of COVID-19. The Commission's decisions also include the authorization of 15 medicines.

According to the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices (AMDM), the AMDM Drug Commission has decided to authorize the pharmaceutical product Molnupiravir, 200 mg capsules N10, N40 - a drug indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate forms of COVID-19 by the conditional procedure. Price of the product will be approved as a matter of urgency, and after the publication of the Order in the Official Journal, the preparation will be able to be placed on the pharmaceutical market of the Republic of Moldova.

Drug Molnupiravir can already be found in pharmacies, after last month AMDM granted for two manufacturers an import permit, through the procedure of issuing the import authorization of unregistered medicines.

Molnupiravir is indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate forms of COVID-19 infection in adults and which have at least one risk factor for the development of a severe form of the disease. Such risk factors are obesity, old age (60 years), diabetes or heart disease.

In total, the members of the Medicines Commission approved the authorization of 46 drugs, of which 15 for the first time and 31 repeated.
