Moldova's Interior Ministry to mobilize all employees to prevent spread of new strain of COVID-19

Chisinau, 20 January /MOLDPRES/ - Interior Minister Ana Revenco, at a today’s news briefing, informed about a string of actions the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) subdivisions are to implement, in the context of the new measures for the prevention and ceasing of the new COVID-19 strain. The official specified that all the institution’s employees would be involved in this.  

According to MAI, an action plan was worked out, which regards all the territory of Moldova. The ministry’s actions will be based both on informing and prevention, as well as control.  

Ana Revenco said that the markets, commercial centres, coffee houses, restaurants, public transport would be verified on the next period.  

„We are set to and demanded that these control missions take into account two stages. First of all, the phase of prevention and informing the residents and the second stage: ensuring the observance of the conditions. Another component of the prevention missions is the assisting of physicians. Locally, the district inspectors will be guided to help family physicians to monitor the people in self-isolation. Also, we are set to enhance the degree of responsibility of economic agents through handing prescriptions and warnings against signature. We will actively monitor the trade activity in commercial points and centres. We will warn the managers of commercial centres, markets, managers of public transport about the observance of the rules established for combating COVID-19,’’ Revenco noted.        

The National Extraordinary Public Health Commission today issued a new decision, given the increase in the number of cases of infection with the new Omicron strain. The document sees a string of restrictions, due to be imposed in the next weeks.
