Moldova to be able to purchase electricity from several sources

Chisinau, January 21 / MOLDPRES /- Moldova will be able to purchase electricity from at least two sources. A draft law in this regard was adopted today by Parliament in first reading.

The draft was presented in plenary by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development and provides for setting in law of the obligation of participants in the next tenders to purchase electricity from at least two sources, as a measure to increase security of energy supply.

The conditions for the submission of financial guarantees by participants in electricity tenders are also to be changed: the amount of the guarantee will be set to a reasonable extent by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE).

The draft amendment to the Law on Electricity is to be voted on in the final reading.
