Moldovan government to borrow money from IMF

Chisinau, 21 January /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today approved the attraction by Moldova’s cabinet of a state foreign loan on behalf of the International Monetary Fund through the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and the Extended Fund Facility (EFF).
Thus, the government will benefit from almost 440 million dollars, of which 147 million dollars through ECF and 293 million dollars – through EFF.
The loan will be used for financing the budget’s needs. The priority expenses will include the roads, energy sector and water supply, investments in the health sector, education and creation of jobs.
The loan within ECF will be repaid in ten equal installments, following the expiration of 5.5 years after each drawing made within the loan. The maturity is ten years. The interest is established every two years and will be 0 per cent till 2023.
