14 kindergartens, 112 groups quarantined due to COVID-19

Chisinau, January 24 / MOLDPRES /- Fourteen kindergartens and 112 groups in preschools, as well as 15 groups in technical vocational education are quarantined due to COVID-19. The data were presented today by the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC).
According to the epidemiological situation, on January 21, in the educational institutions of the Republic of Moldova the number of students tested positive with COVID-19 was 1,139 people. The new coronavirus also infected 361 teachers and 65 auxiliary staff.
During the same period, 64 cases of infection among the little ones were registered in the kindergartens in the country, and 98 educators and 84 auxiliary employees presented positive tests to COVID-19.
The number of students infected with the new coronavirus has also increased. Thus, during the mentioned period, 63 cases were registered in higher education institutions among students and 19 among lecturers.
So far, the vaccination rate of primary, secondary and high school teachers has reached 84.31%.
From today until February 4, general education institutions, with the exception of early education institutions, will operate online. The decision was taken by the Extraordinary National Commission for Public Health in the context of the worsening epidemiological situation in the country and the increase in the number of coronavirus diseases among children, pupils and young people.
