Cahul region benefits from modern sanitation services with EU support

Chisinau, January 24 / MOLDPRES /- Nearly six thousand households in Cahul and the surrounding areas benefit from modern household waste collection and transportation services. This has been made possible by a 64,000-euro special vehicle offered by the European Union through the EU4Moldova: Key Regions program.

The new truck ensures a high degree of waste compaction and has high conditions for the safety and comfort of operators.

Cahul deputy mayor Stela Badin said that working with the town halls in the region is a priority for the local mayor's office. "We want this service to reach the doors of all citizens," said Stela Badin.

According to Iurie Arnaut, Cahul Communal Housing director, in addition to the municipality, household waste collection services are provided in the localities of Crihana Veche, Roșu, Focșa and Cotihana. "We offer, in total, services for 5500 households, and the coverage in Cahul is 85%," said Arnaut.

The EU provided a similar car under the EU4Moldova: Key Regions program to the Ungheni region.
