Moldovan president meets OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrakhmanov. The officials discussed the present situation in the inter-ethnic relations sector in Moldova, as well as the cooperation with this OSCE’s structure.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state said that the consolidation of the society was priority for Moldova’s authorities, so that each citizen feels safe, enjoys equal rights and knows that he/she has chances of personal and professional development. An element of the social cohesion might be the programmes through which the members of the ethnic communities should study the Romanian language and, in parallel, their native language.
President Maia Sandu thanked OSCE for the assistance provided in the process of working out the strategy on consolidation of the inter-ethnic relations in Moldova for 2017-2027. The head of state also expressed confidence that the partnership with OSCE contributed to the integration of the cultural communities, turning to good account of the ethnic and linguistic diversity from Moldova, as well as to the promotion of a united society.
