Foreign affairs minister says EU's firm support essential for Moldova's European modernization

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today started his agenda at the European Parliament (EP) with a meeting with Chair of the EP’s Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
„The firm support of EU, including of the European Parliament, is essential for Moldova’s European modernization. The openness and support for our pro-European government come from the fact that we have proved that we assume and observe the EU’s values and we commit to carry out reforms oriented towards our citizens, those who gave us a strong mandate to develop and modernize Moldova, to fight against corruption and implement the justice reform,’’ Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu said.
At the meeting, the officials discussed concrete steps oriented to the sectoral integration, such as the cutting of the roaming prices with EU, liberalization of the access to the transports market, joining the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), with the gradual integration on the EU domestic market having a major positive impact on Moldova and its citizens.
At the same time, the diplomats exchanged opinions on the complicated regional situation. In the context, the Moldovan diplomacy head welcomed the open and security dialogue with EU.
