Moldovan conductor, violinist celebrates birthday

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/- Artistic director and first conductor of the National Folk Music Orchestra Lăutarii, maestro Nicolae Botgros, People's Artist, turned 69 today.
In 1982 Nicolae Botgros was awarded the title of Emeritus Artist, and in 1988 the People's Artist. In 1993 he was awarded the Order of the Republic and in 2014 - the Order Cultural Merit of Romania, in the rank of commander. In 2002, the Romania International Television station declared Nicolae Botgros as the conductor of the best orchestra in the entire Romanian space. By a Government decision from 2014, Nicolae Botgros' name is given to Soroca School of Arts, where the teacher studied in 1968-1972.
Nicolae Botgros brought the fame of popular music to dozens of European countries, in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, as well as in the countries of the ex-Soviet space. During his activity, he accompanied hundreds of performers from the Republic of Moldova and Romania: Nicolae Sulac, Zinaida Julea, Lidia Bejenaru, Maria Ciobanu, Sofia Vicoveanca, Irina Loghin and others, with whom he recorded over 200 CDs.
