ANRE took stand against increase in prices for compressed natural gas

09:34 | 25.01.2022 Category: Economic

Chisinau, January 25 / MOLDPRES /- The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) is concerned that since 22 January, the country's largest operator of compressed natural gas stations for vehicles, TransAutoGaz Ltd, has significantly increased methane gas prices.

According to the information published in the public space, the company motivated the increase by “the expected increase in the purchase price of natural gas. At the same time, from the comment published by Moldovagaz, which is the founder of TransAutoGaz, we find an uninspired attempt to argue this decision. The management of Moldovagaz listed several factors, some of which, in the opinion of ANRE, have no way to influence at this stage the price structure for compressed natural gas for vehicles ", indicates ANRE.

According to the Agency, if the increases made by operators in November 2021 were based on the increase of regulated gas prices approved by the ANRE Decision, then the argument of the January 22 price increase raises several questions.

In order to clarify the situation on the compressed natural gas market, the National Agency for Energy Regulation analyzes in detail the circumstances of the actions of TransAutoGaz and reserves the right to file a reasoned complaint to the Competition Council to investigate this case through anti-competitive legislation.

Currently, five operators of GNCV stations operate in the Republic of Moldova.
