Moldovan president meets Lithuanian speaker

Chisinau, January 25 / MOLDPRES /- President Maia Sandu had a meeting with Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, who is visiting Chisinau, the presidential press service has reported.

The discussions referred to the security developments in the region and the challenges that our country has to face this year, the most important being the energy crisis. The officials also spoke about the Lithuanian experience in consolidating the country's energy independence, with one solution being the development of green and renewable energy.

The head of state thanked Victoria Čmilytė-Nielsen for the friendship and support that Lithuania has always shown in relation to Moldova. "I expressed my interest in turning to good account the potential for economic cooperation between our countries. We want intensification of the cooperation in security, in order to fight the misinformation and fake news, which are a threat for today's democracies ", Maia Sandu said.
