Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/- Water from the Prut River reached the territory of Cuhnești and Balatina communes in Glodeni district, including the Balatina water treatment plant. This is after the construction-assembly works of the quality water infrastructure have recently been completed in the region.

This includes the water pumping station in Prut, in the village of Bisericani, the Prut-Balatina main aqueduct, with a length of 9.36 km, the water treatment plant in Balatina, with a capacity of 50 m3 / h, and from the water treatment plant to the villages of Cuhnești and Balatina, with a length of 10.71 km. The system was built and installed in a project funded by the National Fund for Regional Development (FNDR) and implemented by the North Regional Development Agency (ADR). The project is estimated at 37.6 million lei.

According to Igor Malai, head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, this project is important in that it offers opportunities to extend the safe water supply system to other localities, which will be connected later through other projects. "This changes people's living conditions, provides more comfort and development prospects," he said.

ADR Nord director Maria Prisacari said that the goal of bringing drinking water into citizens' homes is a priority area for action at both the regional and national levels.

The rural localities in the Prut meadow in the Glodeni district do not yet have efficient drinking water supply systems and sewerage services. Until now, the citizens living in the localities from the Prut meadow have had to feed themselves with water from the mine wells. According to some data, the mine wells in Glodeni district do not meet the requirements and standards regarding drinking water.

The project Construction of water supply systems in 10 localities from the Prut river meadow, Glodeni district. Stage I - Cuhnești and Balatina was launched in early November 2020. The planned works were executed in the volumes and terms established in the contract. The next objective is for the drinking water to reach the homes of the inhabitants of the two communes: Cuhnești and Balatina. Currently, this goal is being achieved in another project. Also, as two more treatment modules of 50 m3 / h each can be installed at the water treatment plant in Balatina commune, the new main aqueduct can be extended to Glodeni, which will provide more localities in the district with quality drinking water.
