Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today summoned a meeting of the Supreme Security Council (CSS).  The main subject of the CSS meeting was the current macro-economic situation, as well as the principal tendencies and challenges of the 2022 year, the presidential press service has reported.

The CSS listened to the report by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), the institution in charge of the prices’ stability under the law. ‘’The increase in prices internationally is an objective reason for the growth of prices in Moldova; yet, all legal instruments must be used, in order to temper this tendency,’’ the head of state said at the meeting. As a result, CSS recommended that BNM analyzes the effects of its interventions made so far and correct them, when they are not sufficient. Meanwhile, the government is to continue the policy of backing the categories worst hit by the prices’ increase.

„The cabinet is to come up with additional resources, to those already allocated for increasing the pensions and compensations to the payment of energy resources, in order to help the citizens easier go through this crisis. Also, the government must continue the reforms meant for improving the business environment, in order to ensure a robust and inclusive economic growth,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
