Solutions of enhancing road traffic safety considered at inter-ministerial meeting in Moldova

Chisinau, 1 February /MOLDPRES/ - Representatives of the Interior Ministry (MAI), Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry (MIDR) and State Administration of Roads (ASD) today had an online meeting. The participants in the event discussed the working out of a decision-taking mechanism on allocating resources for the road safety in 2022.
The participants in the meeting tackled the subject on identifying sectors with high risk of traffic accidents, Black Point, with considering possibility of earmarking financial means for their removing.
To enhance the traffic safety, Black Point road signs will be set, which show that at least five serious traffic accidents resulting in at least five casualties occurred in the concerned area. The road signs will be accompanied by signs of restricting the speed limit. Decision-makers will elaborate an interactive map of the segments with high risk of traffic accidents on 73 segments, including in the places identified during 2021. They will also implement pilot projects on enhancing the traffic safety on the national roads where the most serious segments where traffic accidents occurred were identified.
As much as 71.700 thousand lei is envisaged for works for ensuring the road traffic security (road marking, metal road guard, replacement and repair of road signs, etc.), according to the programme on the distribution of the means of the road fund for the national public roads for 2022.
