Chisinau, 2 Feb. / MOLDPRES /- Orhei Museum of History and Ethnography was equipped with an individual set of furniture, within a cross-border project. The cross-border project is being carried out by the Regional Development Agency (ADR) Center in partnership with the Association for Tourism Development in Moldova (Moldova) and the Cross-Border Cooperation Association Lower Danube Euroregion (Romania).

It is funded by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument and co-financed by the project beneficiaries. The activities aim to increase the visibility of the cross-border cultural and historical heritage of the Central Region, Republic of Moldova, and Galati County, Romania, by strengthening the capacities of cultural institutions and creating a network of Tourist Information Centers in major destinations.

Currently, works are being carried out to provide the Tourist Information Centers with furniture and information panels, creating a profile of major tourist destinations in the project area, to determine several common tourist routes and at the same time to establish excursion programs.

At the same time, a common brand of the network is being developed, as well as a Guide to the destinations of cross-border cultural tourism in the Republic of Moldova and Romania, in the localities part of the project.

"The general idea is to equip museums with a new functionality - to inform visitors and tourists about the attractions in the representative destinations of the region they belong to. And the activity within a network of such museums-infotourism centers would strengthen the joint efforts and would feed each of the participating museum institutions with an additional number of visitors. At the same time, this period of lack of mobility is a respite from re-conceptualizing museums for opening doors in the post-pandemic period with new tourist offers, new capabilities and good news about the most attractive places in the region, " ADR Center sources said.

The implementation period of the MuseumInfoTur cross-border project is April 14, 2020 - May 13, 2022 and provides for the creation of Tourist Information Centers in museums in: Calarasi, Criuleni, Mereni (Anenii Noi), Orhei, Straseni, Soldanesti, Rezina and Galati (Romania).
